Finally I made my makeup and hair website!

I just finished creating my business website. One of the things I really need to do to put myself out there. Kind of took me a while to make it. I'll later make my own domain name. Check my website out.

It's been a while. Waiting a few months for my final photoshoot from school and was out of the country.

I finally received my final shots from my Hair Design class I started back in December 2012. The shoot was until April. I waited until the next few Makeup Artistry classes to graduate so I can join them. I received my final shots while I was traveling to Ecuador with my boyfriend for three weeks. I'll be back next year. Here it is:

That's how much it's been really a while. Hahaha.
I had fun doing makeup and hair at pageants. One of the things I love the most doing at these types of events.

It's been a while...

I'm back! Feels like forever not blogging about my work. I've done a few lately: did a girl's hair for her first communion, another girl's makeup and hair for a wedding and graduation and did a photo shoot at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Here's my final shots...=)

Doing a few pageants this month.

This month, I already did 2 pageants: Miss Hispanidad in San Gabriel, California and Miss Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Hopefully, I'll receive some professional photos. I still need a lot of them for my portfolio. I even need the portfolio itself. Also, in about a week, I'm joining another pageant called Miss Icon. I'm doing the actual pageant. A few months ago, I did the photo shoot of the contestants that are joining. A few days after that, I'm going to my school to do another photo shoot that they owe me. I'll receive photos on that soon. 
I been doing hair though. I love it but I would like to do makeup also sometime.

New Makeup for my kit....and a few for myself.

Went to Naimie's Beauty Center in Valley Village with my boyfriend to buy some makeup for my kit. Also, bought some stuff for myself too. Haha. It was our first time there and didn't know that place was big. Makeup and hair stuff everywhere. Even some spa stuff. I purchased a pink duo-fiber brush, (forgot the name) few foundations from Makeup Forever, (Love it!) Neutral Set (translucent powder) and Banana Luxury Powder from Ben Nye, Model In a Bottle Setting Spray and a steel palette from Makeup Forever. I still need to purchase more foundations. Buying them soom from MAC.
I also ordered some brushes and two contour palettes online from Coastal Scents. I tried the palette in class while learning how to contour and highlight the face and a few brushes from Coastal Scents also and it's all great. I'm glad I purchased them. Received a "I Love Makeup" bumper sticker in the package too. Coastal Scents is affordable. Actually, some of the palettes are on sale. The contour palette was $11. Shipping takes about a week and it's fast. Check the stuff out from Coastal Scents and Naimie's.

Two Photo Shoots Last Week...

Since I've joined Model Mayhem (it's been about two weeks) it helps me join on some photo shoots to gain experience and get some great shots for my portfolio. It's a good way to expose your work also. I did two photo shoots last week. Thursday, March 21 in South Pasadena and Saturday, March 23 at the Long Beach Airport. I was really tired those few days. Had the photo shoots, work and school. I'm glad my boyfriend was part of Thursday's, but still felt bad that he was just staying there watching TV while I'm working. Saturday's, he had to work in the morning and I had to work also right after the shoot. It was worth it. I'm going to get some great shots soon. =)

Just received the final shots of my first photo shoot! I love them! These are the best shots! Did both hair and makeup! =)

 

  I did not expect to get pictures taken. I didn't even dress up for it. It was early in the morning and I was only thinking about my models looking good.

My first photo shoot.

Today, I did my first photo shoot to work on my portfolio. I asked my sister and co-worker/friend to be my first models. Glad they took the time to do it for me. I treated them with some Starbucks after we were done. =) It was great meeting and working with photographer, Manda Aiello. Of course, hair and makeup done by me.

Miss Icon pageant photo shoot.

On Saturday morning, I joined other Hair and Makeup Artists to do a pageant called Miss Icon. It was great. I only did hair because I do both. A few others only do makeup. I did a contestant's hair curly with volume. It's below what I did. I used a 1" curling iron from Keratin Kurl: One n Only. You can purchase it at Sally Beauty Supply. There's a lot of good curling irons there. First, I used a heat protecting spray from Tresemme. I curled small sections left and right, left and right so the curls won't stay collide and turn into a big curl. I always curl away from the face in the front. Last, I used a hair spray I received at the school where I was doing Hair Design. It works. 

I did hair to a few 2 year old contestants and couldn't tale their picture because they were in a hurry to take pictures. I only have the picture of what I had to do and at the other little girl, made some mermaid curls. It was my first time doing it. I tried and what i had to do it brush her hair after curling it. Below is one of the hairstyles I did. It's pretty nice. Part of the hair is tied to the back and some loose waves.

I didn't realize an artist took a picture of me doing hair to one of the 2 year olds. 

 This is my first time doing hair at a pageant and I'm glad I did. I been wanting to be part of one. Hopefully I'll be part of another one doing both makeup and hair. I'm going to receive the final pictures and I'll be posting them up soon.

Beauty Bus!

I'm a volunteer at the Beauty Bus Foundation. I once in a while go to certain places where Makeup Artists, Hair Stylists, Estheticians, Massage Therapists, Manicurists from different places join together to donate their time to cancer patients and sometimes their caregivers. I'm really glad I found out about this place. People get really happy after they get something done. Today, I joined that foundation at a hospital in Burbank to do hair only. The few ladies I did were really happy with their new hairstyle. One of them even hugged me and gave me a kiss.

It's going to be a pretty good month. Volunteering at an event from Beauty Bus Foundation, Valentine's Day is coming up (date night with my boo boo!), joining a contour and highlight class at the school I went to to do Hair Design. I'm glad I'm going back, and doing to photo shoots. One from the school and one to start on my portfolio. I need to start on it and show my talent.

Old Friend

An old friend from high school was updating her Facebook about changing her look. She had a birthday party coming up too (We have the same birthday in October, so this was a while back in 2012). So I asked her if I can do her makeup. I'm glad she said yes. This is the finished look.
